Treat your pup to these easy-to-make snacks and enjoy the peace of mind that you’re giving them something both delicious and nutritious!
Here are 3 simple pumpkin-based dog treats you can make at home.

1. Pumpkin & Applesauce Training Treats

These soft, bite-sized treats are perfect for training or just spoiling your dog with something special. The combination of pumpkin and applesauce adds natural sweetness, whilst the oats and tapioca flour create a wholesome texture.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup pumpkin purée (unsweetened)
  • ¼ cup applesauce (unsweetened)
  • ¼ cup oats
  • ¼ cup tapioca flour
  • 1 egg

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C.
  2. Add all ingredients to a blender, gradually adding water to achieve a batter consistency.
  3. Spread the mixture into pyramid / dot shaped silicone molds.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until firm.
  5. Pop out of the mold and allow to cool before serving to your dog.

Health Benefits:

  • Pumpkin is rich in fiber, which helps with digestion and can alleviate both constipation and diarrhea.
  • Applesauce adds vitamins A and C while being low in fat, making it a healthy, sweet addition.
  • Oats are a good source of protein, fiber, and essential vitamins like B-complex vitamins, which support energy levels and skin health.

2. Pumpkin & Kefir Frozen Treats

Perfect for a hot day or just to give your pup something cooling, these frozen pumpkin and kefir treats are a probiotic-packed snack.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup pumpkin purée (unsweetened)

  • ½ cup plain kefir (unsweetened, unflavoured)

Instructions:

  1. Combine the pumpkin purée and kefir in a bowl.   Mix completely, or just fold together for a marbled effect.
  2. Pour the mixture into silicone molds or ice cube trays.
  3. Freeze for at least 4 hours or until fully set.
  4. Pop the frozen treats out of the molds and serve.

Health Benefits:

  • Pumpkin supports digestive health with its high fiber content.
  • Kefir is a powerful probiotic that promotes healthy gut bacteria, which can help with digestion and improve overall immune function.

3. Pumpkin & Bone Broth Gummies

These gelatin treats are not only tasty but packed with collagen, thanks to both the bone broth and the collagen.  This makes them excellent for joint health, especially in older dogs or breeds prone to joint issues.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup pumpkin purée (unsweetened)
  • 1 cup bone broth (low sodium, no onion or garlic)
  • 2 tbsp unflavoured gelatin powder / gelatin leaves

Instructions:

  1. Add the gelatin to the bone broth and allow to bloom.
  2. Heat the bone broth until the gelatin powder is fully dissolved.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the pumpkin purée.
  4. Pour the mixture into silicone molds and refrigerate for 2-3 hours or until set.
  5. Remove from molds and serve.

Health Benefits:

  • Bone Broth is full of collagen, which supports healthy joints, bones, and skin.
  • Gelatin helps to strengthen nails, improve skin elasticity, and provide additional joint support.
